A Wonderful Husband

So everyone has these ways that God tells them that He loves them. That's great (I have some, too!) But in our everyday relationship we often overlook the way our family and friends tell us they love us and focus on what they are not doing. So today I thought I'd list my "I know my husband loves me because list."

I know my husband loves me when he:
1. Brings me little gifts from the grocery store.
2. Tells me to take a nap and then watches the kids when they get up so I can get a little more sleep.
3. Drops me at the front door when it's raining.
4. Tends to the kids when they wake up in the morning so I can finish my walk.
5. Fixes my guests and me breakfast on Sunday morning so there is one less thing for me to do.
6. Cuts flowers from our garden and gives them to the kids to give to me.
7. Ignores beeps and dings and calls on his cell phone when he's driving just because he knows I hate it. (Although I think he may drive faster to our destination to see what it is. :-)
8. Leaves his phone with me so I can call my family.
9. Comes and finds me to tell me "Bye" before he leaves and finds me to say "Hi" when he comes home.
10. Sits outside with me and the kids and does nothing but enjoy our company and the good weather.

I could find many more things he does, but I should probably work on doing some stuff to tell him, "I love you," like finish unpacking....... :-)

The Beginnings of A Wonderful Adventure

Starting a blog has been on my mind for quite awhile; to be exact almost 3 years now. I wanted to start one when Tommy was born, mainly to help the grandparents keep in touch with the grand kids, and so I could remember all the cute things he did. Every time I thought about signing up all my insecurities would surface and I'd be too scared to even check into it! What if I wasn't funny, what if no one read my blog, what if I misspelled words or wrote incorrectly, what if everyone thought I was lame, what if everyone figures out I'm not the perfect wife and mother? I've always heard it "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." After that pep talk, it's no wonder I never signed up!
Recently though, it's been on my mind more and more. Maria Wesley (another missionary wife and blogger) stayed with us recently and really encouraged me to start blogging; then my husband pulled up this site and got to the part where you choose a blog name. When he called me into the office to ask me what I'd like my blog to be named, I was so scared that I just shook my head and walked out. Then I heard someone make the comment that "There will always be a million reasons NOT to do something," and realized I just needed to take a chance. No, I'm not perfect (as much as I would love to be!) and not everyone will like me. You will soon realize that I am struggling to be a good Christian and good wife and good mother. But I am growing and learning and giving God the glory along the way! Welcome to our life, A Wonderful Adventure!
